Our Story
Aloha, I’m Allison — a nurse, a mom, and the person behind every Besdee formula.
The name comes from my dog Mazi. She was my bestie for 16 years — my shadow, my constant, the one who showed up for everything. I’m from the South, where bestie comes out sounding like besdee. So when I lost her and decided to build something in her honor, the name was already there.
Mazi deserved something better than the chemicals I’d been putting on her paws. Turns out, so did every dog. I couldn’t find a single product I actually trusted — so I made one.
I’m a nurse with a background in biology and chemistry, which means I don’t just read labels — I understand them. What I kept finding in “natural” pet products wasn’t natural at all. And living on Kauaʻi, where you can see the ocean from almost everywhere, made me even more aware of what we’re putting into the world.
Besdee started at our kitchen table, in small batches, with ingredients I’d use on my own kids. It still works that way. I’m still right here on Kauaʻi, still developing every formula myself — with my Goldendoodle Sunny holding down quality control.
