Aloha, I'm Allison.

I've spent my nursing career watching what chemicals do to the human body up close. It changes how you look at labels. It changes how you shop. And eventually, it changed what I was willing to bring into my home.

I believe ingredients matter more than most people realize — in the food we eat, the products we put on our skin, and what we wash through our dogs' coats and into our water. Living on Kauai makes that last part impossible to ignore. I'd open the trash can to throw away another empty plastic bottle and think: this is going to end up in the ocean. I could see it from where I was standing.

So I started formulating my own products. My background in biology and chemistry meant I could go deeper than just swapping out a few ingredients — I could actually understand what each compound does, how it interacts with skin and coat, and why so many conventional products use fillers and harsh chemicals when they simply don't need to.

Besdee started as a way to honor Mazi, my dog of 16 years who was my shadow and my bestie. Losing her cracked something open in me. Building something better in her name felt like the right way to carry her forward.

Today I'm still right here on Kauai, still reading every label twice, and still developing every formula myself — with my current sidekick Sunny keeping a very close eye on quality control.
